Founder Biography
James Stech is the founder and sole travel curator of Sure Point Compass Travel. He has more than twenty years in information technology, where he works as a Program Manager, and began his working life in guest service at Walt Disney World. He is a Certified Autism Travel Professional, an SNG Certified Accessible Travel Advocate®, and a member of ASTA.
James Stech is the founder and sole travel curator of Sure Point Compass Travel, a boutique travel consultancy based in Aberdeen, Maryland.
His path to travel planning began at Walt Disney World, where he worked after high school and learned what it means to be responsible for someone else's experience. He has spent more than two decades in information technology, starting at a help desk and advancing to Program Manager, with work spanning hospitality, aviation, healthcare, and banking. He also worked as a realtor during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each of those roles involved the same underlying work he does now: coordinating complicated things on other people's behalf, and being accountable when the details matter.
Travel is his own long-standing interest, particularly cruising and destinations that reward curiosity about how other people live.
James is a Certified Autism Travel Professional, an SNG Certified Accessible Travel Advocate®, and a member of the American Society of Travel Advisors. He founded Sure Point Compass Travel in 2025.
