Built on a straightforward principle.
The experiences that matter most deserve more than a search engine and a booking button. They deserve structure, foresight, and a professional who takes the planning as seriously as you take the trip.
About Sure Point Compass Travel
Sure Point Compass Travel is a boutique travel consultancy built on the belief that meaningful experiences deserve more than a search engine and a booking confirmation. We plan travel with structure, foresight, and genuine advocacy — from the first conversation through the trip itself and beyond.
We work with travelers who value clarity and professional guidance when the stakes of a trip — personal, logistical, or financial — are real. Our approach scales to the complexity of each journey, and our involvement doesn't end at booking.
Based in Aberdeen, Maryland, and serving travelers nationwide.
Meet James Stech — Founder & Lead Travel Curator
James founded Sure Point Compass Travel on a principle he'd carried through two decades of work: the details that get overlooked are usually the ones that matter most.
His path began backstage at Walt Disney World. As a former Cast Member, James learned early that exceptional experiences don't happen by accident — they're the result of disciplined operational thinking and an unwavering commitment to the person in front of you.
Over the next two decades, James built a career in high-stakes project management and real estate — becoming a specialist at navigating complex systems and keeping things on track under pressure. Sure Point Compass Travel combines that discipline with genuine advocacy so travelers can move forward with confidence rather than uncertainty.
A welcoming space for every traveler
Sure Point Compass Travel is proudly LGBTQIA+ owned and operated — and every traveler is genuinely welcome here, without reservation or condition. The LGBTQIA+ community has long been underserved by mainstream travel planning, and that matters to us.
Whether it's a Pride sailing, a circuit event, an adults-only escape, a quiet romantic getaway, a family vacation, or anything else entirely — you'll be met with the same professionalism, discretion, and care we bring to every engagement. No trip is too niche. No destination requires explanation or justification.
What We Plan
How We Work
Structured, not improvised
Built on research. Constraints, timing windows, and decision points identified before they become problems.
Advocacy, not just booking
Active from first conversation through return home — monitoring changes, managing adjustments, staying in your corner.
Depth matched to complexity
Three service paths — Guided, Curated, Managed — scaled to what the trip actually requires.
Clarity at every step
What's arranged, what's pending, what decisions are ahead. No surprises. No noise.
Common Questions
What services do you offer?
Full-service travel planning and booking across cruises, Disney destinations, international travel, group experiences, LGBTQIA+ travel and events, destination weddings, and more.
How do you charge for your services?
For most trips, there is no planning fee — we receive commissions from travel partners. For highly complex itineraries, we may discuss a planning fee before moving forward, always transparently.
What travel types do you specialize in?
Cruise travel, Disney destinations, Hushpitality and quiet luxury escapes, Set-Jetting itineraries, LGBTQIA+ travel and events, group and family travel, and international FIT.
Why work with a travel advisor instead of booking online?
Online tools give you access to inventory. They don't give you context, interpretation, or someone in your corner when something changes.
When should I start planning?
Earlier generally gives more options. Most cruise and resort travel: 6–12 months ahead. Disney and destination weddings: 12–18 months. Group travel: 9+ months.
What if my plans need to change?
We manage the process — communicating with suppliers, identifying alternatives, and advocating to minimize costs and disruption.
